Ecumenical Patriarchate

The official website of His All Holiness, Bartholomew, Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch. He is the 270th successor of the 2,000 year-old local Christian Church founded by St. Andrew. As a citizen of Turkey, Patriarch Bartholomew’s personal experience provides him a unique perspective on the continuing dialogue among the Christian, Islamic and Jewish worlds. He works to advance reconciliation among Catholic, Muslim and Orthodox communities, such as in former Yugoslavia, and is supportive of peace building measures to diffuse global conflict in the region.

Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Detroit

The Orthodox Church today, numbering over 250 million worldwide, is a communion of self governing Churches, each administratively independent of the other, but united by a common faith and spirituality. Their underlying unity is based on identity of doctrines, sacramental life and worship, which distinguishes Orthodox Christianity. All recognize the spiritual preeminence of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople who is acknowledged as primus inter pares, first among equals. All share full communion with one another. The living tradition of the Church and the principles of concord and harmony are expressed through the common mind of the universal episcopate as the need arises. In all other matters, the internal life of each independent Church is administered by the bishops of that particular Church. Following the ancient principle of the one people of God in each place and the universal priesthood of all believers, the laity share equally in the responsibility for the preservation and propagation of the Christian faith and Church.

Metropolis of Detroit

The purpose of this site is to keep you informed of news, events, and activities throughout the Metropolis of Detroit and its parishes, as well as linking you with our Archdiocese and Patriarchate. There are 43 parishes, 2 chapels (small communities that function only occasionally), one mission parish, and one monastic community within the Metropolis of Detroit. The Metropolis of Detroit covers all of Michigan, Arkansas, and Kentucky, and part of Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and upstate New York. This site will help you stay in contact with these communities and the programs therein. Furthermore, you will be able to see the programming for the youth of our Metropolis, the activity of the Philoptochos and other programming within the Metropolis.

Orthodox Christian Mission Center

The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) is the official international missions agency of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in America (SCOBA). Their mission is to help fulfill the Great Commission of Christ (Matthew 28:16); the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) strives to establish vibrant Eucharistic communities throughout the world, to develop and support indigenous church leaders, and to strengthen the infrastructure of their churches. OCMC carries out this work primarily, though not solely, in countries where Christianity is in the minority and where the Gospel message has not been proclaimed. OCMC will recruit, train, send, and support Orthodox missionaries to preach, teach, baptize, construct, and minister to the spiritual and physical needs of those being served and saved.

Metropolitan of Detroit Summer Camp

Now more than half a century old and spanning its third generation of campers, the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Detroit Summer Camp (MDSC) has been providing faith, friendship and fun to the youth of our Metropolis since 1952. Located in Rose City, Michigan, approximately 3 hours north of Detroit, the camp is set in a beautiful and peaceful setting, in the heart of the Huron National Forest. With three unique camp programs (for older teens, for youth ages 7-15, and for young adults), the camp welcomes almost 400 campers and over 100 staff throughout the different weeks each summer. We encourage all of the youth of our Metropolis to join us at MDSC!

International Orthodox Christian Charities

Orthodox Christian Network (OCN), an agency of SCOBA, has been established to create a national, sustainable and effective media witness for the Orthodox Christian Church in North America. OCN produces high-quality programs and media tools for local parishes that reach people for Christ 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Their mission is to strengthen the Orthodox communities of North America and to share the timeless faith of Orthodoxy with the contemporary world by using modern media: radio, the Internet, podcasts, DVDs, television and more. They hope to inspire the faithful everywhere; raise up our children; call back the wayward; and reach beyond to our cities and towns with the joyful, Christ-centered message of the Orthodox Christian Church.
